Fylde

Fylde college means a lot to me. I was a member as an undergraduate student and became a resident dean when I graduated. In the September of 2000 I organised the first assistant dean training course. This is a project I am very proud of and is now an annual event. The three day course took place at Lancaster University and involved the securing of funding, locations, speakers and accommodation. The course was attended by approximately 25 assistant deans with an end of course meal attended by approximately 50 discipline and collegiate key members. With assistance from a few colleagues, the course was a great success. In January 2001 I took over the role of dean of Fylde a position that I hope to hold for some time. The role of dean is discipline throughout the college, trying to maintain some order in a college with more than three hundred new members every year. Although a very serious role demanding lots of commitment and understanding, it can be very rewarding and nearly all students will never have the misfortune of meeting me in this capacity. I get a lot of pleasure from my role and am very proud of the college and of being a member of Fylde. |
