I am Professor of Software Systems Engineering in the School of Computing and Communications at Lancaster University. Most of my work is in the general area of software and systems engineering and especially in requirements engineering, high-integrity systems and self-adaptive systems. I also have interests in text mining and semantic computing. I teach a range of topics on the software engineering syllabus across all levels within the school and I am always interested in hearing from prospective research students.
I am a member of the IEEE Computer Society, the ACM and the British Computer Society (BCS) and I am a chartered engineer.

I am co-organizing the Agile Requirements Engineering Workshop on 26th July at ECOOP'11.
From August 2011 I will be spending a year's sabbatical at the Centre de Recherche en Informatique at the Université Paris 1.
I am PC chair for the 20th IEEE International Conference on Requirements Engineering (RE'12) to be held on the 24th-28th September 2012 in Chicago
In the meantime, RE'11 takes place in Trento starting on the 29th August, and REFSQ'12 will take place between the 19th and 22nd March 2012 in Essen.
The RESG (BCS specialist group in Requirements Engineering) always has a lively programme of events.
