. me .
Above all, I am just a Portuguese girl that loves life. Among my favourite things, I have walking at the beach, while admiring the beauty of the sun, sand and sea, and playing with my nieces, Catarina and Constança, who I call ‘mini’ and ‘micro’ :-). Then, there are many things, or I would not be a true life lover… Regardless of the context, I do believe in permanent learning, teaching and sharing; this is our humble, yet admirable role in life. And it is this belief that makes me want to wake up every morning with the will of doing my best.

At the moment I am a Senior Scientist on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) at Fraunhofer Portugal. Whenever I can, I also teach HCI-related courses. Before joining AICOS – Research Center for Assistive Information and Communication Solutions team, I was a PhD student at the Computing Department at Lancaster University, working with Professor Alan Dix and a teacher at a number of unis (you can check those on my cv).

My friends call me butterfly; Professor Alan Dix used to call me puppet (with or without strings, depending on the amount of energy)... People around me say I’m curly, bubbly and jumpy and know me as palexa, a name that comes from Paula ALEXAndra, my first two names. It started being my login and ended up as a name people from several nationalities could pronounce in a way I would recognise as being myself :-)
