Current Roles and Responsibilties
Community Involvement
Having been very involved in various communities from a local to an international level, I am currently keeping my involvement to a bare minimum in the hope of completing my degree as soon as possible. For details on my experience and past involvement in the UK and Australian Higher Education communities, the Jewish community, and my local, regional and national communities please see my communities page.
Academic Research
I am currently a PhD Candidate in Computing (writing up status), working on Software Engineering for the Research Environment, and specifically process improvement for the academic research environment. You can read more about this on my research & publications page.
I am also the chair for The First International Workshop on Improving Research Productivity in Computing. We have an amazing program committee and are looking to bring together researchers and industry members to discuss what we can do to make research more better and more efficient. The public, the media and government all want to see better value for money in research generally. Investment in high tech R&D is high... but will it eventually be another burst bubble? What can we as a research community do to improve the rate of progress? The paper deadline is March 25th 2007. If you have thoughts, please consider sending a paper in.
Academic Teaching
I currently teach first year programming (Java) and Scientific Methods. Past teaching ranges from Software Engineering to
Web Technologies. You can see the full list on my teaching page.
