This configuration guide explains and illustrates how to build and configure a Cisco 3200 Series Mobile Access Router (MAR) from ‘Out of the Box’.

At present, Cisco systems outsource any projects which involve the use of the Cisco 3200 series MARs to third party contractors. Hence, most assembly and configuration of MARs is performed by specifically trained employees of these third party contractors. However (as was the case with myself), certain individuals may find themselves working with MARs as part of research work, etc. Personally I found the information and documentation on how to initially configure a MAR to be poorly structured and sometimes lacking. So after having successfully assembled and configured the MAR to perform basic wired and wireless routing functionality I have decided to develop this ‘how to’.

This guide is arranged in the following order, please click a link to the left:

• Section 1: Physical Assembly and Power Considerations
• Section 2: MARC Configuration
• Section 3: SMIC Configuration
• Section 4: FESMIC Configuration
• Section 5: WMIC Configuration
• Section 6: Miscellaneous Information
