who are you? If you are everything you've ever done, everything you've ever experienced, everything you remember, who would you be if you couldn't remember anything? Who would you be if you could remember everything? Maybe these questions aren't so important in themselves, but they do remind us that memories play a role in making us who we are. We wondered what it would be like to have a friend you could reminisce with who had always been with you. Remember those things you did with your best friend when you were 15? What if the same friend had been with you since and was happy to discuss things with you whenever you wanted. These thoughts have motivated some research at Lancaster - we haven't decided if it should be called Digital Me or Digital Friend - and these pages outline some of the basic ideas. If you're interested, or have any comments, please get in touch. |
