24/05/08 @ 10PM: P4P2P
On Thursday I presented a paper at the P4P2P workshop at the University of Warwick. Warwick has a nice campus and I heard about lots of interesting work, so it was a good day. We will also submit a paper to the journal special edition which follows the workshop.
21/05/08 @ 12AM: God Bless You Dr. Kevorkian
I just finished Kurt Vonnegut’s ‘God Bless You, Dr. Kevorkian’ which I enjoyed very much. In the book, Vonnegut repeatedly dies and is resurrected so that he can interview people in the afterlife. Here is Vonnegut’s conversation with early labour organizer Victor Eugene Debs:

I thanked him for words of his, which I quote again and again in lectures… “As long as there is a lower class I am in it. As long as there is a criminal element I am of it. As long as there is a soul in prison I am not free.” He asked me how those words were received here on Earth in America nowadays. I told him they were ridiculed. “People snicker and snort” I said. He asked what our fastest growing industry was. “The building of prisons.” I said. “What a shame.” he said. And then he asked me how the sermon on the mount was going over these days… and then he spread his wings and flew away.

Oh and James, my fellow director and co-founder insisted that I add a link to our company, Isis forensics (above).
18/05/08 @ 8PM: False Start
OK, so my last post was a bit of a false start, but I have finally returned to porting my old pages to the new site format with just my (1000s of) photos left to link in. There is a new travel diary entry on my travel page, four new publications on my research page and lots of new books on my reading page… so have a look around.
