Final call for papers
We invite position papers for the CHI 2008 Workshop "Designing and Evaluating Mobile Phone-Based Interaction with Public Displays". This one day workshop will offer an interdisciplinary forum of discussion for both practitioners and academics interested in designing and evaluating innovative techniques for mobile-phone based interaction with public displays. The workshop will facilitate discussions aiming to the development of a theoretical framework able to explain and predict user’s mobile phone-based interaction with public displays, the development of a methodological framework able to support the investigation and evaluation of such interaction. Not at least the workshop aims to contribute to the development of a taxonomy of interaction techniques together with a set of guidelines for their appropriate use. Reviews in progress, but a small number of places are still available. Late submissions will be considered on a first-come first-served basis until the November 19, 2007 to Corina Sas and should include:
Participants will be selected on the basis of the originality of their position paper, and contribution to the workshop goals. At least one author of accepted papers needs to register for the workshop and for one day of the conference itself. The workshop will be organized in brief individual presentations, problem-based group learning activities, group presentation and full-group discussion of results.
