Chris Richardson
BSc Computer Science Innovation 08
First Class Honours

Why did you choose your course and what did you gained from it? What was the most exciting or interesting part of it?
I chose the course as I felt it offered beyond and above a normal Computer Science course, with the focus of looking at new and exciting technologies. I felt I gained a deeper knowledge of how the academic world writes papers and conducts research.
Why did you choose Lancaster University?
One of the key reasons was the Computer Science Innovation course and on the Open Day I found the staff to all be very enthusiastic. I liked hearing from different researchers and looking at varying technologies on the Innovation course.
Were there enough facilities?
I felt the labs were great for working and discussing problems etc. with other students.
Did you make lots of friends at Lancaster?
I met lots of friends both on the course and through societies. I felt the Innovation Program was particularly good for this, due to the small size of the group I was in.
Can you comment on any work placements or company contact you had?
I worked at BT in Ipswich for three months thanks to an advert I saw in the Computer Science department.
This involved conducting research in a small team.
What you are doing now in your career?
I am currently completing a Masters and in late September will be back at Lancaster working on a PhD relating to intrusion detection with the same supervisor I had for my third year project! I am throughly looking forward to this work.
