Katherine Goodhart
BSc Computer Science Innovation 08
Upper Second Class Honours

Why did you choose your course and what did you gain from it? What was the most exciting or interesting part of it?
I chose Computer Science Innovation because it was more than your average Computer Science course. The additional Innovation modules appealed to me as they gave me the opportunity to learn about exciting, cutting-edge technologies, which was something I was particularly interested in. One of the most interesting projects I took part in was my research dissertation which investigated Human Computer Interaction.
Why did you choose Lancaster University?
Lancaster was the only University to offer the Computer Science Innovation degree and it was the first year it was running. This was particularly exciting but was not the only reason I chose Lancaster. I looked at a number of different Universities, but when I attended the Open Day at Lancaster, I knew that was going to be my first choice. I really liked the campus feel and InfoLab21 was particularly impressive.
Did you make lots of friends at Lancaster?
I had a great 3 years at Lancaster and made lots of friends, many of whom I am still in touch with today. I have also been back to visit the campus a number of times since leaving, as some of my friends are still studying at Lancaster.
What are you doing now in your career and how did your course influence this?
I am now working for Capgemini, in a Business Development role. This involves working with clients to design and deliver IT solutions for their business. I joined as part of their graduate scheme which has been excellent. My time at Lancaster has definitely put me in good stead for this job as I feel I have an excellent combination of both technical knowledge and business skills which I use daily. I also feel the presentations and workshops involved in my course helped build my confidence and experience which I apply regularly when dealing with clients.
