Why study Computer Science Innovation?
The overall aim of Computer Science innovation is to deliver a broad but rigourous Computer Science education coupled with for direct exposure to the department’s cutting edge research.
Graduates of this programme are intended to continue directly into careers involving innovative thinking and problem solving,as part of an advanced research, development or an innovation team.
We provide a supportive learning environment within a framework augmented with small group teaching, seminars and closely supervised projects within which students have the opportunity to reach their full academic potential.
We also aim to provide students with the knowledge and skills required by and expected of any Computing professional.

Course Details
G401 can be studied as a 3 year BSc Honours degree or a 4 year integrated masters (MSci).The Programme falls into three separate periods – Part I (the first year) and Part II (years 2 and 3) and the Master's year (year 4).
This four year course provides a great deal of choice to its students. The following table outlines all the compulsory and optional modules that are available:

Entry Requirements
- A/AS-level: AAB at A-level
- One of the A-levels must be Maths or Computer Science.
- General Studies: not included in the offer
- UCAS Tariff: 340 UCAS tariff points from the above permitted combinations of A-level grades
- AVCEs/Applied A-levels: not included in the offer
- Key Skills: Not included in the offer.
- GCSE: Maths and English Language grade C or better.
- IB Diploma: 31 points overall with 17 points from best three HL courses.
- Scottish Highers: AAABB
- BTEC National Diploma: DDM grades overall
- HNC/D in Computing: not included in the offer
- Mature students: not included in the offer
Transfer in
It is possible to transfer onto Computer Science Innovation from one of our other degrees at the end of the 1st year subject to satisfactory academic performance.
Peace of mind
Should you apply for G401 and miss the entry points but meet BBB or equivalent you can be admitted to our Computer Science degree, G400. Progression onto G401 is still possible subject to appropriate Part I performance.
Scholarships and Bursaries
A number of scholarships and bursaries are available to help with financing your degree course if you meet the requirements of an Academic Scholarship (expressed in terms of A-level grades, or equivalent).
