I am director of the UCREL research centre and a research fellow in the Computing Department, in the Infolab21 building at Lancaster University in Lancaster, UK. I am co-director of The Research Engine.

• Corpus Linguistics Advanced Research Education and Training (CLARET) workshops: last one at Reading at the end of June 2008
• For more details on the Corpora journal published by Edinburgh University Press, see the Corpora Journal Home Page. Two issues comprising volume one and two issues of volume two have been published. Issue 3:1 is now being typeset by EUP following proofreading.
• ICAME Journal published by Aksis (Bergen, Norway); printed and distributed by UCREL. Issue 32 has now been published and posted to subscribers following delivery from the printers.
• LRE Journal special issue on Multiword expressions: notification will be delayed following some late reviews.
• Along with Mark Davies (Brigham Young University) I co-edit the Routledge Frequency Dictionaries Series

• Variant spellings: in Early Modern English in particular
• Extending a semantic annotation tool for research on metaphor in discourse: funded by the British Academy.
