Welcome to the web-site for the Desperado project, carried out at Lancaster and Derby Universities, and funded by the ESRC Cognitive Engineering Initiative from October 1995 - March 1999. The project has studied experienced engineering, software and industrial designers in realistic contexts, and has developed Desperado, a computer-based tool that supports innovative design by encouraging the sensitive and timely re-use of design ideas and experience. It does so by aiding the processes of encoding and retrieving design information, while at the same time eliciting a 'design rationale' of ongoing work.
