Biography

Originaly descending from Vourla (a village next to Smyrna, Turkey), Gary was born in Athens (Greece) in 1975. His academic qualifications include a Bsc in Computer Science from UCL and an Msc in Distributed and Parallel Systems from Queen Mary & Westfield London university. He joined Lancaster in January 2003.

In parallel to his PhD, Gary is working as a full time Software Engineer for British Telecom in Adastral Park, Ipswich. Since joining BT in January 1999, Gary has gained experience in the design and implementation of various network protocols and distributed system architectures (J2EE, XML, SQL, COM, LDAP and general network level programming).

Research Interests

Gary's PhD is in the area of Networking with particular emphasis on Mobile Systems and Group Communication. Under the supervision Dr. Joe Finney , his specific interests are on:

Wireless Networks (cellular and ad-hoc)
Mobile IPv6
IP Multicast
Peer-to-Peer Networks
Grid Networks
