Lunar eclipse

On 9 January 2001, there was a full lunar eclipse visible throughout much of Europe. I was at work late anyway, so I brought my little digital camera outside, and let it run for about 10 minutes. I didn't do much to modify it, other than to speed up the footage by four times, and adjust the gamma a bit, to bring out some details. The movie is tiny (365kb for ~3 minutes), so don't be afraid of clicking.

The second video was during totality, and it has the much-anticipated reddish-brown tone that made this eclipse special. The details are not as sharp, because the source was quite dark. This movie is a bit larger (1.7 MB) than the above one.

The movies require QuickTime 4.0 or higher. You can download QT4.0 at Apple's Quicktime site.
