A Peace Corps Experience

Me, up high

Goeie Môre! Welcome to my Peace Corps experience. My name is Ian Lindsay. I am currently part of Peace Corps Namibia's Group 16. From October 23, 2000 to January 4, 2001, we are in training to be Peace Corps volunteers. After being sworn in, I will serve 2 years as a secondary school science teacher in the town of Lüderitz.

The road to Okahandja

My hope is to document much of my time here so others may see what it's like. It is a project that I'm doing that is independent - and in no way supported by the Peace Corps. I hope this web site, in conjunction with my LiveJournal site, will give you a little glimpse into my life here in Namibia.

The way I see it, why should just my Namibian community prosper from what I'm doing? For those who find my trials and adventures interesting, maybe your curiosity will pull you in my direction and you'll apply to the Peace Corps. Those who are happy where they are, enjoy this work of non-fiction.

Reflective windows are cool

I would like to offer my thanks and gratitude to my brother, Adam, who is my webmaster. We hope this multimedia experience is fun and educational. We hope we can keep this running throughout my two years of service. With Adam working on hs PhD and having to mail my pictures and such to him (Peace Corps doesn't pay much and it takes a few weeks for mail to go anywhere), updates will be available maybe once a month, maybe more. But we'll do our best because I think it's exciting for both of us.
