Firefly

A couple of years ago, firefly was born out of a random conversation between Joe (a low level, systems and networking guy) and Alan (who's into HCI) randomly chatting about how good it would be to be able to write a name or a word in the fairy lights they saw strung out in some trees outside.

It sounds fairly simple, but they didn't stop there. They wanted to build a completely flexible screen, one that could deal with any type of surface and be configurable in the field.

So they did. This web page describes various aspects of the steps required to put the complete, 3D display surface that firefly represents together.
