Tom Fitzpatrick is a research associate in the Distributed Multimedia Research Group at Lancaster. He works on the Visual Beans Project, which is an EPSRC-funded collaboration with Rutherford Appleton Laboratories looking at ways of supporting adaptation and component-orientation within the area of distributed collaborative scientific visualisation systems.

Previously, Tom was a BT-sponsored research student attached to the Adapt Project, investigating distributed system support for adaptive multimedia applications using Windows NT and CORBA. His thesis is available here.

Tom is also a participant in the SETI@home project and founder of the Lancaster University team.
