Acorn, and its effect on your life

Abstract:

To most people Acorn was a company that made computers for schools and that only a selection of die-hard enthusiasts still use them.

However Acorn technology has had and still is having a major influence on the industry, especially in the area of mobile devices. (85% of the world's mobile phones are powered by ARM processors).

In this talk I will briefly discuss the history of Acorn, its core technologies (ARM and RISC OS) and highlight some of the influences it has had in the world (ranging from Corel Xara and internet TV's to the gameshow 'Who wants to be a millionaire?').
