The
following are Research Summaries currently available in hard copy from the Centre for Excellence in Leadership. The summaries are available here in

Explicating Leadership - introductory
research summary on ethnography, ethnomethodology and how our project has
‘explicated’ leadership in the learning and skills sector.
Storytelling and Leadership – summary on the
value of stories and storytelling for doing leadership research and building
bridges between research, CEL programme design and the working lives of
practitioners within the sector.
Leadership and Emotional Labour - summary draws
attention to the valuing practices of leaders – the day-to-day actions and
words through which they seek to demonstrate the value they attach to the work
of their staff.
Leadership as Mundane Work – uses the rich data
from the project to provide detailed descriptions of mundane leadership work
as it occurs in the daily life of a college.
Technologies of Leadership – examining the role
of technologies and systems in the everyday accomplishment of leadership work
and the impact of the audit culture on the everyday practices of senior
managers in FE.

and comments on the policy and practice surrounding the recent the ‘war on
bureaucracy’ in the Learning and Skills Sector.
