- Digital Libraries; interface, learning and collaboration issues
- Interactive Learning Environments
- Collaborative Learning
- Computer Supported Cooperative Work
- The development of interfaces to support the articulation of plans,
goals and beliefs, as well as
permitting the expression of ambiguous or imprecise concepts such as ideas and
designs.
- Evaluation techniques for the above, focussing on informal, formative,
ethnographic methods
- Notations to support metacognition and problem solving.
Current projects
ARIADNE: an interface for collaborative database browsing.
Evaluation of CSCW systems
The Designers' NotePad: a tool to support the early stages of design, writing and the
organising of ideas by use of concept mapping.
FINLAND: a learning environment for Discounted Cash Flow which provides an interface
to make explicit the use of formulae, plans and goals in problem solving.
