Travel details

The conference venue is the Low Wood Hotel, Windermere, located on the east shore of Lake Windermere, just off the A591 mid-way between the towns of Windermere and Ambleside. (See on-line (UK Street Map or Multimap maps of the area).

If you are travelling from outside the UK, the most suitable airports to use are Manchester or one of the London airports (Gatwick or Heathrow). Although Manchester has the best access to the conference venue, the London airports may offer you better airfares and/or connections. Once in the UK, you can travel to the conference venue by either rail (to the local "Oxenholme, the Lake District" station) or road.

Free shuttle service

The conference organisers will be operating a free minibus shuttle service between Oxenholme station and the Hotel on Monday 14th September and Tuesday 15th September. This service will be frequent, aiming to meet all trains, and does not need to be pre-booked; information will be available at the railway station. This shuttle service will also be operating the return journey from the Hotel to Oxenholme railway station on Friday 18th September.

Taxi

If you arrive at Oxenholme station outside shuttle operating times, you can take a taxi to the Hotel. Taxis are there to meet every train and the journey to the Hotel takes about 20-30 mins for a cost of approximately 16ukp. In case of difficulty, you can call the Blue Star Taxi Company on +44 1539 723670. Alternatively, you can take a train from Oxenholme to Windermere (approximate cost 3ukp single, 4ukp return) then from Windermere railway station take a 10 minute taxi journey to the Hotel (approximate cost 5ukp).
